Travertine
Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. It often has a fibrous or concentric appearance and exists in white, tan, and cream-colored varieties. This unique stone is formed by a process of rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate, often at the mouth of a hot spring or in a limestone cave. Most of the travertine imports come from Italy, Iran, Mexico, Turkey, and Peru.
With these links are some of the many travertine samples. Please realize each piece of stone is unique, thus one represented on a website will not look exactly like the stone at Earthstones or as your project.
